Who we are
Ola Sweet started in a borrowed rehearsal room above a launderette, with one cheap synth, a bass that wouldn’t stay in tune and a lot of opinions about chorus pedals.
Ola Mensah was writing songs on a phone between shifts at a record shop. Jonah walked in looking for a Talking Heads reissue and left with a gig offer. Priya joined on drums a month later, and Theo brought the guitar that still sounds like it’s underwater. That was 2019. We’ve played almost every week since.
The sound
We write big, sticky choruses and then fill the space around them with shimmer: chiming guitars, warm analog synths and drums you can dance to. The songs are about growing up slowly, missing buses and loving people out loud. If it makes you cry at the bridge and jump at the last chorus, we did it right.
What’s next
We’re finishing our second album, Glasshouse Summer, recorded live to tape over three weeks in a converted chapel. “Paper Moons” is the first taste. The rest arrives in the autumn, and we’re taking the new songs on the road first.
